Bahama Cruise Trip Diary

May 4, 2015 - Cruise Day 1
Today we embarked on the Carnival Cruise Ship, Fascination.  We arrived just after 1pm and were able to go to our cabin immediately.  Thinking ahead, we packed our bathing suits in our carry on's so we could head to the pool.  First we enjoyed lunch on the Lido deck.  Of course Jonathon had to have some ice cream afterwards.  We came back to our cabin, changed into our bathing suits and headed to the pool. While at the pool we enjoyed some Bahama Mama's and soaked in the sun.  Our sunning was interrupted by the safety briefing.

After the briefing we came back to the cabin for a nap.  An hour before dinner we went to The Palace Theater to see the welcome show.  After the show it was time to go to our dining room.  We were the last couple to arrive at our table.  There were 2 couples who sat with us.  One was from South Carolina and the other was from North Carolina/Virginia.  As his appetizer, Jonathon decided to try escargot.  I stuck with a more conservative choice of spinach and artichoke dip.  Although I did try the escargot.  It was very chewy and tasted like italian sausage to me.  Jonathon said he enjoyed it though.

After dinner we went and played some black jack.  The dealer was taking the table.  Before we knew it, it was time to head to the Puttin' On the Ritz Lounge for the Punchliner's Comedy Club.  The comedian, Jeff Jena, was hilarious.  Picking on the crowd mostly.

May 5, 2015 - Cruise Day 2
Today didn't start off quite as well as yesterday did.  This morning I woke up with a headache and was very nauseous.  I took a shower hoping to help my symptoms, but that wasn't the case.  After getting sick in the cabin, we decided to go get some breakfast.  Knowing I wasn't going to make it, I asked the mat'rd where the restroom was.  There was an angel of mercy in the bathroom, who had recently become sea sick too.  While I was in the stall she offered to go get me a glass of water and also told me to go to Guest Services to get some dramamine.  I am so thankful for her help.  After I was finished in the bathroom, I took my water upstairs to find Jonathon and my abandoned food.  After we finished breakfast, we headed to Guest Services to get some dramamine.  We came back to our room and I was able to take one of the dramamine and lay down for awhile.

After a short nap, we decided to have some lunch.  When we came to the Lido deck, the girl who helped me in the bathroom was in line for the mongolian barbeque.  She recognized me and asked if I was feeling better.  I thought that was so sweet of her to do.  While eating lunch the fun staff had a mini Cinco De Mayo celebration.  They handed out sombrero's and mustaches.  On the stage they had a musical mexican orange game.  Everyone had to pass an orange around using only the crease in their neck.

After lunch, we decided to head to the casino for a bit.  We played roulette.  At first Jonathon and I weren't winning.  Then I hit 3 numbers in a row, won all of the money back we started with, plus some extra.  We decided it was a good time to cash out.

Tonight was the Captain's Celebration, so we were able to get dressed up.  An hour or so before dinner, we went around the ship to have our pictures taken.  Tonight's dinner was amazing.  Jonathon ordered prime rib and I had lobster with jumbo shrimp.  After Jonathon finished his prime rib he also had a lobster with jumbo shrimp dinner.

After dinner we went to the theater for a show called "Motor City".  It was a great revue of the motown hit's from the 50's and 60's.  When the show was over we rushed to the other side of the ship for the Punchliner's Comedy Club adult only show.  Tonight a different comedian, Fry Man, was our entertainment.

After the comedy show, I came back to our cabin while Jonathon went to the Lido deck to smoke.  When he came back to the room we decided to go back up to the Lido deck for some late night burgers.

May 6, 2015 - Cruise Day 3
Today we docked in Nassau, Bahamas.  We started the day with breakfast in the formal dining room.  We noticed that it was raining outside, so we took our time getting back to the cabin.  When we finally left the ship it was pouring down.  By the time we walked through the gate to Nassau it had stopped and the sun tried to come out.  We walked down Bay Street, going in and out of different shops.  Jonathon decided he wanted to find Señor Frogs.  We walked through some parts of town that probably weren't for tourists.  Giving up our task at hand we headed back towards the ship.  We found a street that we hadn't yet walked down that was full of shops and restaurants.  As we were walking down the street, I noticed Señor Frogs straight ahead.  We went there for a wonderful lunch.  The water was so clear, I was able to take pictures on my phone of some fish.

After lunch we decided to head back to the ship and go swimming.  Up on the Lido deck we laid out in the sun and took a few dips in the pool.  Soon it was time to eat some dessert from the buffet, and head back to the cabin for a nap.

When we woke up from our naps we got ready for dinner.  After dinner we went to the guest talent showcase.  There were several singers and a magician who were all very entertaining.  When the showcase was complete, we ended our night with a tribute to Michael Jackson in the bar outside of the casino.

May 7, 2015 - Cruise Day 4
Today was our last port of call.  We ported in Freeport, Bahamas.  Thankfully it was sunny and clear skies all day.  We at breakfast and headed out to explore.  After shopping at Del Sol we headed to the beach.  We ended up at The Grand Lucaya Resort.  For $15 we were able to use their beach and pools.  They also had free wi-fi so we were able to FaceTime with Savannah and Kennedy.

At 2pm, we headed back to the ship.  Once on board we walked around and then came back to our cabin for a nap.

Tonight at dinner we tried frog legs as an appetizer.  As everyone says, they taste like chicken.  However, I had a hard time eating them due to their texture.  There was another couple that joined our table tonight as well.  They didn't realize that the dining schedule was observed every night.

After dinner we met up with two other couples from our table and watched the ships version of The Newlywed Game.  They chose 3 couples; a newly wed couple, the couple married the longest, and a couple who celebrated their 4 year anniversary yesterday.  It was hilarious.

When that finished up we headed up to the Lido deck for a mexican fiesta.  It was a little dead, so we went to the casino and played blackjack for a little bit.  Things were going my way for a little bit, but we ended up losing all the money we started with.

May 8, 2015 - Cruise Day 5
Today was our last full day on the ship.  We had a very lazy day, not even getting out of bed until almost 11AM.  Thankfully the brunch menu was still available in the formal dining room.  I tried a cereal crusted french toast.  It was ok, but I don't know that I'd try it again.  Afterwards we went to the art auction.  There were many beautiful pieces of work, not to mention complimentary champaigne.

After the auction we headed to the Lido Deck for some lunch.  We enjoyed a nice lunch on the breezeway.  Afterwards we came back to the cabin for a little nap, and to pack our stuff.

At dinner we had a nice time with one of the other couples who we've sat with all week.  Afterwards we came back to the cabin, changed, and put our luggage outside our cabin to be picked up by the stewards.

The final show on the ship tonight was a revue called Divas.  It was a showcase of songs from Lady Gaga, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Christina Aguilera, just to name a few.  It was good, but I personally enjoyed the Motor City performance we saw at the beginning of the week.

Overall I have to say this is probably my favorite cruise we've been on so far.  The service was beyond impeccable.  The dinner company was wonderful.  I'm excited to come back home to our girls, but I will miss this experience as we debark tomorrow.
